Create Ticket Options

Set up ticket options that control how and when people can buy tickets to your event.

Updated this week

Ticket options let you control how people attend your event by offering different prices, access levels, or quantities. For example, you can create General Admission, Early Bird, or VIP tickets, or offer free RSVP options alongside paid tickets.

This article explains how to create ticket options and how to configure them for your event.

What Are Ticket Options?

A ticket option is a specific type of ticket for your event. Each option can have its own:

  • Name (e.g., General Admission, Early Bird, VIP)

  • Description (what the ticket includes or who it’s for)

  • Price

  • Quantity available

  • Sale start and end date

  • Minimum and maximum quantity per order

You can create one or multiple ticket options for the same event, depending on how you want to structure entry.

When Should I Create Multiple Ticket Options?

Multiple ticket options are useful if you want to:

  • Offer discounted early tickets (Early Bird)

  • Charge different prices for different access levels

  • Provide both free and paid entry options

  • Limit special tickets (e.g., VIP or guest list)

  • Control how many tickets each person can buy

If everyone pays the same price and gets the same access, you can create a single ticket option.

How to Create Ticket Options

To create ticket options for your event:

  1. Open the event you want to manage

  2. Go to the Tickets or Ticket Options section

  3. Select Add Ticket Option

  4. Enter the ticket details:

    • Ticket name (for example, General Admission or VIP)

    • Description (optional, to explain what this ticket includes)

    • Price (set to $0 for free or RSVP-style tickets)

    • Quantity available

    • Sale start date and time (when this ticket becomes available)

    • Sale end date and time (when this ticket stops being sold)

    • Minimum per order (the fewest tickets someone can buy at once)

    • Maximum per order (the most tickets someone can buy at once)

  5. Save the ticket option

You can repeat this process to add multiple ticket options to the same event.

Setting Prices and Quantities

When configuring ticket options:

  • Choose a price that matches the value or access level

  • Set a quantity limit if space is limited

  • Use lower-priced options to encourage early signups

  • Use higher-priced options for premium access

  • Use per-order limits to prevent bulk purchases or scalping

Once tickets start selling, lowering the quantity or changing prices may affect people who already purchased tickets.

Using Sale Start and End Dates

Sale dates let you control when a ticket option is available:

  • Use a sale start date to schedule when tickets go live

  • Use a sale end date to automatically stop selling a ticket option

  • Create time-based pricing (for example, Early Bird tickets that expire)

  • Hide special tickets until you’re ready to release them

This is helpful for managing demand and encouraging early purchases.

Naming and Describing Ticket Options

Clear names and descriptions help attendees understand what they’re buying.

Good examples:

  • General Admission – Entry before 11 PM

  • Early Bird – Discounted entry before 10 PM

  • VIP – Includes express entry and reserved area

Avoid vague names that don’t explain what the ticket includes.

Free vs Paid Ticket Options

You can create:

  • Free ticket options for RSVP-only events

  • Paid ticket options for ticketed entry

  • A mix of both for the same event

Free tickets are useful for building a crowd or testing interest. Paid tickets are best when space is limited or you need to cover event costs.

Editing or Removing Ticket Options

You can edit ticket options after creating them, including:

  • Changing the name or description

  • Adjusting the price

  • Updating quantities

  • Modifying sale start or end dates

  • Changing minimum or maximum per order

If tickets have already been sold, some changes may be limited. If you need to remove a ticket option that already has buyers, contact Beatmatch support for help.

Tips for Better Ticket Setup

  • Keep ticket names and descriptions clear and simple

  • Use sale windows for Early Bird or limited releases

  • Set reasonable per-order limits

  • Avoid creating too many ticket options, which can confuse buyers

  • Double-check prices and dates before publishing

  • Make sure your ticket options match what you promise in the event description
